What we collect
CaseBond uses PostHog, a product-analytics service, to understand how readers use the site: pages viewed, clicks, scroll depth, the link or campaign that brought you here, approximate location derived from your IP address, and your browser/device type. During limited evaluation windows we may also record anonymized session replays of how pages are used; text you type is masked and never captured.
We do not require accounts. If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is collected and stored by Buttondown, our newsletter provider, under Buttondown's privacy policy. We can see which page you subscribed from.
What we don't do
We do not sell or rent personal data. We do not run third-party advertising or ad trackers. We do not track you across other websites. We honor your browser's Do Not Track setting. Analytics events about the site's content (which case pages are read, which sources are clicked) are never tied to your name or email.
Cookies
PostHog sets a first-party cookie (or browser storage entry) so that two visits by the same browser can be counted as one visitor. No advertising cookies are used.
People who appear in our records
CaseBond documents historical criminal cases from published, checked sources. We operate under strict editorial floors: we never publish accusatory claims about private individuals who were not charged or convicted, we treat acquitted and exonerated people as equally protected, and every published factual claim must cite its sources. If you believe a record about you or a family member is inaccurate or harmful, use the correction process — corrections are reviewed by a human and logged publicly.
Your rights
You may request access to or deletion of any personal data we hold (for most visitors this is only analytics data keyed to a random identifier, and for subscribers an email address held by Buttondown). Contact us and we will act on the request within 30 days.
